History Repeating Itself: Is Web 3 The Next Industrial Revolution?

Web 3: Blockchain Technology and the concept of Web 3 may have put humankind on the precipice of another decisive moment that will shape world history. The industrial revolution transformed manufacturing, transitioning from hand production to methods of machine, harnessing the power of steam power and a mechanized factory system in the name of efficiency and sustained economic growth. Industrialization changed the scale at which everything was produced, powered, and sold. Are we converging upon another modern society, where our transition is to methods of machine in the form of a Digital Ledger? Harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence applied through quantum calculations evolving our protocols in transactions, building community, interactions with customers and developing brand ecosystems, systematically propelling us into our next Age of Existence.

In 1994, on a segment of “The Today Show” Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric were not sure what to do with the @ symbol, when referencing the shows new mode of communication for audiences.

"What is internet anyway?" a confused Bryant asked. "What do you write to it, like mail?"

"Its a computer billboard but its nationwide and its getting bigger and bigger all the time," a producer from off-stage explained.

It's quite ironic to look back at this clip now, in our current timeline and recognize a pattern. Identifying the same trepidation for new technology and way of life that blockchain technology seems to be facing as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) have swept through modern society with a whirlwind of buzzwords like "metaverse", "crypto", "decentralized", and "web 3". The old regime regarding the progressive movement as nothing more then a fad, just as the predecessors believed would be the same fate for Computers and Cell Phones. The correlation of mindset of advancing generations is now beyond coincidental, and as major brand adoption continues; the inference would be that we are at the crux of another digital ascension.

As we revel in these advancements today, it's easy to think, "How could they have not seen that coming?" But when you consider the magnitude of change brought on by the Digital Revolution, it's understandable how people could have been so resistant to it. Just like with the Industrial Revolution, there are those who are resistant to change—those who can't understand what they are seeing. They don't see how this new technology will impact their lives in the future. But those who do understand that Blockchain Technology is going to change everything for good, They're ready for it. They're excited about it. They're ready for a better future—and they know that this technology is going to bring it about.

The possibilities of applications will be boundless by any preconceived notion of business structure, community building, connecting to your audience. Sectors such as gaming, art and entertainment have led the way for new industries to innovate in the space. Film, Real Estate, Fashion, Branding and Banking have begun to unveil a world that is faster, more relevant, immersible and leverages information with the pervasiveness of everyday applications. An expansion and relevance that is ’getting bigger and bigger all the time’ and I am here for it.
